WC 2010: Four African referees named

    Four African referees made it to the final 30 going to handle the 52 matches at the World Cup 2010. They are Malian born Koman Coulibaly, Jerome Damon from South Africa, host country, Mohamed Benouza from Algeria, 2010 World Cup qualifier and Eddy Allen Maillet from the island country, Seychelles.

    The other referees disclosed in a special and African edition of the French magazine, Onze Mondial (April – May 2010) and on the website www.onzemondial.fr are Oscar Julián Ruíz Acosta, Colombian, Joel Antonio Aguitar from Salvadore, Khalil Al Ghamdi from the oil – rich Saudi Arabian Kingdom, the Mexican Benito Archundia Téllez, from Argentina Héctor Walter Baldassi, Carlos Batres González from Guatemala, Portuguese Olegário Benquerença, and from Switzerland Massimo Busacca.

    Others are Belgian Frank De Bleeckere, Carlos Amarilla Demarqui from Paraguay, Swedish born Martin Hansson, from New Zealand Michael Hester, Ravshan Irmatov from Ouzbekistan, Viktor Kassai from Hungary, French man Stéphane Lannoy, another Latin American from Uruguay, Jorge Luis Larrionda, the Spaniard Alberto Undiano Mallenco, Japanese Yuichi Nishimura, still from New Zealand Peter O’Leary and from Chile Pablo Pozo.

    The rest are another Mexican Marco Antonio Rodríguez, the Italian Roberto Rosetti, from Malaysia Subkhiddin Mohd Salley, the Brazilian Carlos Simon, from Germany Wolfgang Stark and Howard Webb from England.

    The World Cup 2010 kicks off June 11 – 11 July in South Africa.
