The 62-year-old former England coach added: "I was very happy with our discipline and organisation, we were organised for 90 minutes, in the past it wasn't like that."

The Swedish coach added: "Another plus was Didier coming on to play. He'll be even fitter for the next game.

"However, I had been hoping the team would score a couple of goals so that he didn't have to play against Portugal."
 
Drogba stressed that there was little danger of him aggravating his injury during the match.

"Every time you put your foot on the pitch, there is a risk," the Chelsea striker added.

"With the protection I had it was clear there was no risk. The only problem is if I had fallen down."

Ivory Coast's next game is against Brazil on Sunday at Soccer City in Johannesburg.

"I think we knew before that it is a very difficult group and we just have one point and let's see what we can do," reflected Eriksson.
