The UN peacekeeping office in Ivory Coast has confirmed that one of their helicopters belonging to the French troops fired on the forces of embattled Ivory Coast leader Laurent Gbagbo at the Akouedo Military Barracks on Thursday evening.
Nick Birnback, spokesman for the U.N. Department of Peacekeeping Operations, said Monday the helicopter fired on Gbagbo’s troops at about 5 p.m. local time to prevent them from using heavy weapons at the Akouedo camp in Abidjan.
According to AfricaNews reporter Selay Marius Kouassis, the bombardment traumatized a lot of locals quoting a lady who claimed the rocket filed through the roof of a house killing three people.
He said the death toll could be higher. This video taken by a resident around the vicinity reveals the intensity of the attack.
