Uganda: Political parties sign MOU

    Major political parties in Uganda including the ruling party-NRM, have signed a memorandum of understanding agreeing to work together towards democratization of the East African nation. The parties which signed the memorandum include Uganda People's Congress (UPC) , Democratic Party (DP).

    The rest are Conservative Party (CP), Justice for Equality Movement (JEMA), Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM)

    They agreed to always use dialogue to solve political problems.

    The ceremony which took place at Imperial royale hotel in Kampala on Friday was also attended by religious leaders, diplomats, minister and political parties’ top officials. It was sponsored by the Netherlands Institute for Multi- Party Democracy (NIMD) and the government of The Netherlands.

    NRM’s Secretary General Amama Mbabazi represented NRM while Ken Lukyamizi of CP , Miria Obote of UPC, Hussein Kyanjo of JEEMA and the secretary general of FDC ,Alice Alaso attended the function and signed on behalf of their parties.
