The United States of America has rejected Tunde Adeniran as the country's ambassador to US. Adeniran was refused as Nigeria's choice for ambassador after his son was arrested last month with two others for alleged gang rape in Baltimore, USA. Washington has since communicated its decision to Abuja.

Neither Adeniran nor the Nigeria’s foreign ministry could issue a statement in this regard as of now but report further indicates that the Nigerian authorities are making frantic effort for the US to reverse the decision, according to the Nigerian Daily Independent newspaper.
In the US, rape is regarded as a serious crime; perpetrators could be slap with longer jail terms.
Adedamola, 20, resident in Halethorpe and two other Nigerians were picked up and charged with gang raping three women in separate incidents that took place in parking lot of Seton Keough High School in Southwest Baltimore.
The attacks according to report occurred two weeks apart with similar characteristics. Detectives determined the attackers' identities after the most recent victim remembered the tag number on the vehicle of one of the suspects.
Adeniran is a native of Ekiti State, he was Nigeria's Ambassador to Germany under former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
He has a diplomatic experience spanning decades, including membership of the Nigerian delegation to the 40th Session of the United Nations in 1985.
He has also served his country as Education Minister between 1999 and 2001.
