Tsvangirai quits presidential race

    In a dramatic count down to Zimbabwe's the 27 June presidential run off elections, opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) leader Morgan Tsvangirai has pulled out of the race. The decision comes following a meeting of the party's executive council in Harare.

    Tsvangirai has accused the government of President Robert Mugabe and the ruling Zanu-PF of intensifying an onslaught against the opposition ahead of the poll.

    An Sabcnews.com reported Sunday that Tsvangirai said that Mugabe plans war on the people of the Southern African country on Friday further adding that he will not be part of it.

    The report further said Tsvangirai who won the first elections beating Mugabe on March 29, also accused the country’s police of standing by the Zanu-PF militia committing crimes of humanity including rape, torture, abduction and arson.


    He said he cannot ask Zimbabweans to cast their ballots on Friday if that vote will cost them their lives.

    Furthermore Tsvangirai will announce his party’s vision and way forward on Wednesday.

    Zimbabwe is in serious problems economically with its inflation going down and several things including fuel have gone up.
