   I do some travel pieces, but I feel the hardest thing to do is to get them out for publications on the international market.. Is this view wrong?

   yep I agree with you. I think people are more stereotypical thanwe give them credit for. So most publications expect you to to write about thir idea of Africa and ussually that is too far removed from your experience.
