Togo footballer dies on birthday

    Massamesso Tchangai a former member of the Togolese national team, The Sparrow Hawks, died on Sunday of cardiac arrest, according to state television TVT. The 32-year-old footballer was part of Togo's historic team that participated at the 2006 World Cup held in Germany.

    He played for a number of clubs abroad including CA Bizertin (Tunisia 1997- 1998), Udinese (Italy, 1998), ND Gorica (Slovenia), Al Nasr Riyad (Saudi  Arabia, 2006 – 2007) and Shenzhen Shanquingyin (Chine, 2009).

    Born in Atakpame, Tchangai, who had been living in China, playing football and doing business, came back home for a visit and to celebrate his 32nd birthday, but collapsed and died on the day of the anniversary, according to reports.
