Niggles in the North of Africa
- A perspective or opinion on the fluid events unfolding in Libya. Of late, things north of the Sahel have been a little dicey. The Egyptians are busy emasculating Mr. Mubarak and the Tunisians are turning up in Europe in hordes, having lost all respect for civil authority and uncaring about the “revolution”. It is in Libya, however, where things are currently at their worst. One cannot help but feel that there is much more going on than meets the eye. In the case of Egypt and Tunisia, things were apparently left to the citizens to sort. By this I mean that foreign powers seemed content to watch from the sidelines or exert diplomatic pressure behind the scenes, issuing statements…
