- Police officers in Kenya, will get a pay increase this July, which is part of a three-year implementation program of reforms aimed at boosting their morale. Internal Security Minister Professor George Saitoti told a media conference on Wednesday that the Regular, Administration and Prison officers would get a 28 percent pay increase in the first phase. This will see the lowers grade officers at all levels take home ksh 34000 per month ($500 p.m )by 2012. A police constable Edward Kirui accused of killing two demonstrators in Kisumu during the 2008 post-election violence has been acquitted. High Court judge Fred Ochieng on Monday ruled that the bullets found in the victims' bodies did not match the gun used by Kirui hence his innocence. - It emerged that the police had submitted for ballistics tests a different firearm from the one that was used to shoot the two. A man from Nyamira has confessed killing four women in Rift valley and Nyanza provinces in Kenya. He was arrested in Kaplong town, Sotik, while apparently on the run after killing a woman lodging in Keroka town, Nyamira District, some 45km away. - The shock hit's the wave days after the self-confessed serial killer Philip Onyancha was arraigned before court to answer to murder changers.

A 13-year-old great granddaughter of Nelson Mandela died in a car crash after leaving a musical concert on Thursday ahead of the 2010 World Cup kick-off in South Africa. - A statement from the Nelson Mandela Foundation said Zenani Mandela was traveling in a car returning from the World Cup Kick-Off Concert at Orlando Stadium when the accident occurred.
