- The embattled autism community of West African states have made a bold resolve to join voices and pull resources together to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorders. At an ongoing conference (April 7-10,2011) in Accra, participating countries laid the foundation for a regional organisation known as Autism Society of West Africa. Autism is a serious developmental disorder that manifests as impairments in a person's ability to socially interact and communicate and behave appropriately.
