Isaac Masingati is Supplements Editor at The Daily Times of Malawi. He has won the CNN African Journalist of the Year Award in 2002 and 2006 respectively. His first award was based on the article ‘Chicken Business of Globalisation’ which discussed dilemmas of poor countries in the face of a liberalised economy. In his 2006 CNN award, Masingati’s ‘Spinning Scrap into Gold’ trounced hundreds of entries from across Africa to grab the first position. He is the only Malawian to have won the coveted prestigious awards twice. Masingati has sat at all editorial desks from current through business to features until 2006 when he moved to the sports desk of Nation Publications Limited where he worked as news analyst and columnist for Nation on Sunday. Apart from serving as Business Editor, Masingati teaches News Writing at the Malawi Institute of Journalism. He is also involved in media consultancy and has handled media roles on part-time basis for a number of internationally-funded NGOs. A holder of a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Journalism from the University of Malawi, Masingati is a widely travelled journalist whose quest for media excellence has taken him to remotest corners of the country to give the voiceless their voice; and overseas in search of academic advancement.
