    A Federal High Court in Abuja, Nigeria, stopped the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from conducting governorship elections in Kogi, Adamawa, Sokoto, Bayelsa and Cross River states. In his judgment which lasted for more than an hour in the consolidated suits by Governors Ibrahim Idris (Kogi), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Timipriye Sylva (Bayelsa) and Liyel Imoke (Cross River), Justice Adamu Bello held that there were no vacancies in the affected states for now. - He added that the tenure of the concerned governors would not expire until May, 2012 and then would election be conducted.
