Andrew Esiebo
Born in Lagos, Nigeria in 1978, Andrew Esiebo began taking pictures after getting his first camera as gift. A self-taught photographer, Andrew developed a serious interest in documenting Nigerian urban life, culture and heritage.
Recently, his work has progressed into multimedia, addressing issues sexuality, identity and migration.
He has featured in numerous exhibitions and workshops both in his home country and abroad. He was recently nominated for the 2009 Joop Swart Masterclass with World Press Photo.
He was the winner of the 2007 Visa Pour Creation residency programme in France and the Africa Beyond residency programme in the UK, supported by the Photographers' Gallery and Gasworks.
He is also a member of Nigerian-based photography collective Black Box.
