John Njuki Gachuku is social sciences graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, Certified International Project Manager with a diploma in Integrated HIV/AIDS Management,Journalism at Writers Bureau.
He works with Nabanga Development Agency and Youths in Action where I help in managing the organization, fundraising, conducting community outreaches to youths on behaviour change for HIV prevention, production and supply of IEC materials, career counselling and recruiting international volunteers to work in hospitals, schools and orphanages in Africa.
Previously, he served as the Project Coordinator in a Global Fund Round 7 HIV/AIDS project funded through Care International in Kenya. He coordinated the implementation of the project that operated in Coast and Nyanza provinces sensitizing commercial sex workers, injecting drug users and men-having-sex-with-men on uptake of counselling and testing, produced of IEC materials on antiretroviral therapy and sensitized PLWHAs and their care givers on uptake of ART.
As a Project Assistant at World Vision-Voi Area Development Programme under ENHANCE, Kira Cha Simwa (PMTCT) and Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) projects, John Gachuku gave nutritional support to PLWHAs; assistance to orphans and vulnerable children; supervised HIV prevention advocacy sessions amongst youths out of schools, trained groups on CBO management, did community sanitation transects and awareness meetings on nutrition and public health.
Working as the Managing Editor for The Higher Education Bulletin at Education Media Limited, he compiled, edited and led the printing of the magazines and published my work in NEMA News, The Standard, Daily Metro, Kenya Times, The Higher Education Bulletin, Education News & Education Watch and Beyond. The main themes of work were on educational, conservational and health matters of concern in Africa.
