Khama in South Africa
- President Ian Khama of Botswana is on a two-day state visit to South Africa to support Zuma’s call to lift Zimbabwe’s sanctions. President Ian Khama, who have been the remaining vocal critic of Robert Mugabe in Southern Africa, has said that despite his views that Mugabe brutalized his opponents after losing presidential run off elections, the sanctions imposed on Mugabe and the members of Zanu-PF should be lifted to encourage the unity government to draft a new constitution and make way for fresh elections. Business Day reports: “We strongly feel that the sanctions are a hindrance … as the political and economic situation is improving,” said Lt Gen Khama. …
