Morogoro: Village trade rests on tourism
Mikumi National Park has helped to create many jobs for the local communities surrounding the national park.This has enabled majority of the people living adjacent the park to improve their income compared to the past. - Maneno Ngobito is one of the locals engaging on business deals at the park's entrance gate.
Ngobito earns around 300 dollars during peak season a day but through selling various goods to visitors visiting the park.
However the sells decline to between 80 US dollars and 100 US dollars when season is over.
Ngobito has been doing the business since 197 and he is happy that he can manage to meet basic needs of his family.
