I was born in The Netherlands and bred in Angola and Rwanda. After finishing my studies (journalism / American studies / International Development Studies) in Amsterdam and some travels (Tunesia, Gabon, Vietnam, Israel, etc) I decided that Cape Town would be the place that I'd call home. I have been living here since 2004 and not planning to leave anytime soon.
I have worked in the field of journalism since 2002, and so far it has been an interesting ride. Publications that appear on my CV include Spits (Dutch national newspaper), The Cape Times, The Big Issue Magazine South Africa, The Leadership magazine (South African business magazine), Financieel Dagblad (Dutch financial newspaper), Inter Press Service (global news agency), Portfolio & Open Skies (inflight magazines of Emirates), Cape Town Magazine (online travel magazine), and Metro Holland (Dutch daily newspaper).
The topics I have covered: health, politics, finance and business, skills shortage, Zimbabwe elections, xenophobic violence, environmental issues, global warming, prisons, women's affairs & gender equity, human rights, development issues, poverty and development, and many more other topics.
Last but not least - Apart from being a writer who takes her job very seriously, I am a photographer as well. Please view some of my work here.
