Miano Kihu has worked as a practicing Journalist and Trainer since 1993. He currently teaches Journalism at the Mombasa Polytechnic University College in the Department of Media & Graphic Design. He possesses a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Nairobi and a Journalism Diploma from St Augustine University of Tanzania.

Before he ventured into teaching in 2005, he had worked for various media houses in Kenya including the now defunct Kenya Times (1993--19998), Baraka FM Radio Station in Mombasa (2000 --20002) and People Newspapers (2002 -- 2005), among other publications. He has also been a reporter on Transport, Shipping and Logistics for the Kenya's Business Daily in 2008/9.

He teaches Newspaper Writing, Editing, and Media Law & Ethics.
