    - Kenya has received an award for its effort in controlling malaria. Kenya received the Africa Leaders Malaria Alliance award at the sidelines of the just concluded 16th African Union summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Kenyan Public health minister Beth Mugo, who confirmed that the country has made progress in controlling malaria since 2003, received the award. She said that local manufacturing of drugs has been important for it creates easier access of the drugs. The other African countries who also received the award were Uganda, Guinea and Tanzania.   2. Two Countries in Africa disarming pastoralists


    - Kenya and Uganda have agreed to fight against illegal arms among pastoralists. These two countries have joined and launched the fight because they have bigger number pastoralists. The Ugandan Deputy Prime Minister Eriya Kategaya and Internal Security Assistant Minister of Kenya Orwa Ojode attended the launch. Pastoralists in Uganda and Kenya have illegal arms, which is their only way to defend themselves when raided. But the two governments agreed to disarm them which means they have to find a way of protecting the pastoralists from attacks.   3. Youth caught on the way to join Al Shabaab


    - We have two Kenyan youth who were among the group of people who were arrested by police for allegedly attempting to cross over to Somalia to join the Al-Shabaab. The parents of the youth were shocked to hear the arrest and that their sons are associated with terror group. The report was known after Coast Police Officer, Mr. Nyongesa said in a press yesterday that six people have been arrested in Lamu, Mombasa on Sunday.     - A pride to Kenyan as young David Lekuta Rudisha won the World Athlete of the year award. It was at the annual International Athletic Foundation (IAF) that Rudisha received the award.     The United States has banned four Kenyan officials and a prominent businessman from travelling to their country. According to the US ambassador to Kenya Ranneberger, they have sufficient evidence to suspect them to be dealing in drugs. - AfricaNews correspondent said the names of the suspected victims are yet to be known.
