Damaria Senne is a freelance writer based in Johannesburg. She writes news articles, features, case studies, web copy and press releases on ICT-related topics. She also consults for small organisations on how ICTs can be used for social development. Damaria has been working as a fulltime technology journalist since July 2005. She began as a senior journalist for ITWeb, where she reported on events in the ICT industry, with special interest in the telecommunications sector. Publications she contributed to included ITWeb Online, iweek and Brainstorm. She continues to contribute to the latter publication, as well as Informatica, ITWeb’s specialist book imprint. Damaria was a finalist in the 2006 Telkom ICT Journalist of the Year Award (online category), and the 2006 MyADSL Journalist of the Year award (online category). Prior to joining ITWeb, she was a communications manager for the Charities Aid Foundation Southern Africa and the Non Profit Partnership, where she was responsible for leading developing and managing the organisations’ web sites, print and electronic newsletters, as well as brochures, posters and flyers. Damaria is a regular contributor to SAVANT, a monthly electronic newsletter which is part of the Department of Trade and Industry’s initiative to promote the South African ICT industry internationally. Damaria a contributor to the career pages of REAL magazine, a national consumer magazine in SA. She has previously contributed to national SA magazines including Femina, Cosmopolitan, Tribute, BONA and Weigh Less magazine.
