Abraham Mariita is a Journalist by profession based in Nairobi, and has been working with Ghetto FM 99.9 since 2007 as a presenter, producer and most recently, station manager. Abraham got his diploma in Journalism and media studies from a local college in Nairobi where he also served as a student leader for the institutions’ student union before graduating. He has also been working as a freelance writer and majorly contributes to Jamati Online, a US-based online portal, and worked in other fields in Journalism like video production. Besides hosting live interviews with key international celebrities like Sir Tim Barnes Lee, Abraham was hosted in an interview with BBC international radio, discussing the trend and behavior change of young people in Africa. He has been actively involved in the radio programming and other social activities within Ghetto fm which promote youth development and reproductive health for the slum area where the community radio broadcasts. His contribution at Ghetto fm shows that he holds a passion in informing and educating the community that is mostly neglected by the mainstream media. Mariita is a hardworking young man, who has learnt to be a leader rather than a follower and a team-player. He hopes to reach his goal of providing life changing information to young people in order to develop a healthy, informed and conscious future for these socially vulnerable young men and women.
