Dr Makungu said this when inaugurating TiGo pre-paid BlackBerry services, where he acknowledged fast growth of the telecommunication sub-sector in the country.

He, however, underscored the importance of providing cost-effective services to many people including those living in rural and remote areas. Dr Makungu said the government would continue promoting investor and business friendly environment in the country.

TiGo Commercial Operations Officer, Mr Diego Gutierrez, pledged his firm's continued innovation and provision of services at good quality and affordable prices.

"Our customers do not have to choose between affordability and quality. We deliver both!" Mr Gutierrez said at the function at the Kempinski Kilimanjaro Hotel in the city.

He said with pre-paid Tigo BlackBerry services, subscribers would be having unlimited access to the internet, after paying 7,000/- for a week, 20,000/- for a month and 55,000/- for 90 days and 100,000/- for six months.
