THE SOLUTION TO THE CONGO TURMOIL

  1. There is saying in Congo (Dem. Rep.) that goes by . It can be literally translated to English by . This on my own understanding means that a better a way to extinguish fire is to use fire. This might sound a bit awkward though it doesn’t apply in all aspects of life. In some aspects it does. We can take an illustration of the war situation in Congo and Somali. In the Congo situation there is only one way out of the chaos is to fight. To fight all those who feel agitated to stay in peaceful and stable country.
I remember sometimes back, the Ituri region (North eastern Congolese region) was burning because two communities felt that they couldn’t stay together after proving us the contrary forages. I personally witnessed those atrocities. The then Authority in the region the RCD (rebel movement) could not curb the skirmishes because one of the warring ethnic group was logistically supported by the Ugandan Government. This latter community started even attacking those coming from other regions and dubbed them Wajajamba. They wajajamba had to seek refuge in the UN compound and the humanitarian situation escalated on a daily basis. This forced the European Union to commission France to intervene in the operation that’s was baptized Artemis (Artemisia). They contained the insurrection with ease and in a very short period. One of these warring communities, that had the gut of attacking Indian and Pakistani peace keeping forces never tried with French troops and their leader is one of the Congolese guest of honor to Mr. Luis Moreno Ocampo in the Netherlands. It is crystal clear to us that all kind of militia in the DRC can fight Indians, Pakistanis, South Africans Uruguayans but not French, Germans, Canadians. Not because their experience in war that they really fight but because their countries have significant diplomatic influence in the world.
To end and curb the recurrence of violence the Democratic republic of Congo, the United Nations should consider sending the three thousands(3000) additional troops from European Union countries or one of those diplomatic giants instead of burdening India that has already been proposed to add the yet to come 3000.
