TANAPA accused of killing 5 men in Serengeti

The Tanzanian National Parks (TANAPA) rangers are alleged to have shot dead five men , all residents of Gibasso village in the Tanzanian Northern Tarime District which is close to .
The men have gone missing while either grazing poaching in the Serengeti National Park for six months now.
Police force in Tarime has admitted that efforts to trace the men have proved almost proved failure with parents and relatives losing hope.
““This is a very complicated issue that needs an in-depth research before making any conclusion because we have even failed to get their remains”, Tarime Regional Police Commander (RPC) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Constantine Masawe told Africa News on Wednesday morning.
The men went missing on October 31 last year, according to ACP Masawe.
They included Chacha Marwa Gasaya, Wang’enyi Marwa, Marwa Mohere Tore,Magoigwa Chiware, Marwa Sira and Mwita Marwa Makuri .
There are unconfirmed allegations that the men were shot dead after being chased by rangers belonging to TANAPA. But TANAPA has been strongly refuting the allegations without going into details.
But local leaders have reminded bitter on the issue asking the government to establish the truth of the matter and made it public.
“We are wondering how six men can get lost in the park for such a long time. We have complained to districts leaders but it is like there is hidden agenda on this issue”, Nyarokoba ward councilor Mr Mustafa Masiani said yesterday.
On Tuesday Minister for Tourism and Natural Resources Ezikiel Maige told the parliament that TANAPA will give the police force all necessary cooperation to establish the truth of matter.
Minister Maige was responding to a question posed by opposition CHADEMA legislature Ms Ester Matiko who suggested that it is high time for TANAPA to arrange a parade to enable two men who survived during the incident to identify rangers alleged to have chased the missing men.
