Sudan: Two hanged for murder

    Two Sudanese men were executed for killing four oil workers, two of them were Chinese, State media said on Wednesday.

    The two people were convicted for killing the workers and looting their vehicle in 2004 at Heglig in Kordofan state in south Sudan, the official news agency SUNA reported.

    The dead workers are working with a Chinese petroleum company at Hejilij area, the agency said but did not publish further details about the execution.

    The two men were hanged at the federal prison in El Obeid, the main city in Kordofan state, north Sudan.

    In this March, unknown gunmen kidnapped nine Chinese oil workers from South Kordofan and later killed four of them after a failed rescue attempt.

    October 2008, three Sudanese working with the Yemeni HTC oil company died after an ambush hit while they were travelling between Heglig and Mayom in south Sudan.

    In January, Six Sudanese men were hanged in Sudan's capital Khartoum for killing 13 policemen in a deadly clash between police and residents in 2005 at the Soba Aradi Camp in Khartoum.
