Student shot dead in protest in Kano

  1. A student of the school of environmental studies Kano has been shot dead in a protest which broke out in Gwarzo Local government Area at the weekend.

The students of the school staged a protest over the death of their colleague, who was allegedly killed by another student from the government secondary school Gwarzo.

When I visited the scene, source told me that when the students gathered at the police station they demanded the police to hand them over the suspect in order to avenge the death of their colleague. The police refuse and order them to disperse, while the angry students ignore the order and start throwing pebbles which made the police use tear gas and shot dead one Tahir Kabir and injured at least five others.

I also asked another student the reason why they want to avenge the killing of their friend while the suspect is in police custody. He told me that they have told the suspect’s parent tried to get him out from the police custody that is the reason they converged at police station to avenge the blood of their colleague.

The students earlier blocked the entrance of the town and burnt tires along the road. The police came and disperse them.

One of the student who seek anonymous told me that the suspect had a disagreement with deceased student Ubale S. Aliyu over a handset. A few days after disagreement Aliyu was declared missing and five days his decomposing corpse was found on the outskirt of the town. Police later arrest the suspect who has had disagreement over the handset with Aliyu. Upon the investigation by the police the suspect confessed to killing Aliyu.

Public relation officer of the Nigeria police command Baba Mohammed confirmed the incident said they were still investigating the cause of Tahir’s death as the autopsy report was not ready.

When I visited the deceased family house. I asked deceased senior brother about the incident he told me “we leave everything to God because you know Nigerian police are killing innocent people. Look at the killings of boko haram members which Al jazeera showed on tv is inhuman what happened? Nothing”
