I got home at 22.00 pm and it was to start at 22.30 p.m East African time. My wife was watching G-Africa channel which runs Nigerians movies. I took a quick shower and announced to my sweetheart that I was going to watch football on G-Sport 1. She did not like the announcement and was asking me for more time so that she could finish watching the movie. We had a few exchanges and agreed that she finishes first.
When it came to an end, she threw the remote to me and left for bed. As I was constesting that she should give me company, the gunners were already down by one goal. I saw the goal by David Bentley. It was a fantastic goal and a breathtaking opener. I cursed and there was no one to comfort me. My kids were already fast asleep, my wife was already in the bed, just dogs playing outside! Although Arsenal produced classic displays, the defence looked shaky!
An equaliser from Michael Silvestre before the first half eased my tension a bit. The second half started with Arsenal looking lethal thus the goals from Gallas, Adebayo and Van Persie. I jumped and made all the noise I could to celebrate the uncelebrated. Spurs pooled back and sinked Arsenal in the final seconds. Determination, resiliance and pride is what Spurs players showed that night.
As I was set to leave the house in the morning, my wife asked me how the game went. I told her that determined Spurs had shuttered our dream for challenging the premiership!
A whip on the fresh wound!
Stoke City 2, Arsenal 1. That was another painful result over the week end. Determined Stoke City caned wounded and uncoordinated Gunners at the Brittania stadium. Those who watched the game would agree with me that a lot has to be done before Arsenal face off Man Un on Saturday. If Wenger is not going to change his tactics, the Gunners will go down once again and that will be a final nail on Arsenal's dream-coffin for challenging the premiership title. Wenger should know that football is about scoring goals and that no amount of display will credit the team other than that. Funs want to see what the final score reads on the board and the rest is story telling.
