South Africa ex-police boss jailed 15yrs

    South Africa's former police boss and ex-president of Interpol Jackie Selebi has been handed a 15-year jail sentence for graft. He is one of the high profile officials in the country to face justice for corruption. Selebi was convicted for receiving bribes from a drug lord last month.

    He is a former leading anti-apartheid activist and well-connected in the ruling African National Congress (ANC) party.

    Analysts said the conviction of Selebi - a former president of international police body Interpol - was a positive development for the country, showing it was ready to tackle its growing corruption problem.
