Some Somali pirates clashed in the Harardhere town of the Mudug province - their stronghold - over a US$ 3.3 million alleged ransom paid them for releasing a Spanish ship and its 36-member crew, residents told AfricaNews. They freed the Alakrana fishing vessel on Tuesday night.
Two of the brigands were injured during the clash, local media reports said. They have been admitted at a private hospital in the town.

Somali pirates hijacked the Alakrana ship with 16 crew, eight Indonesians and others from the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Madagascar, Seychelles and Senegal last month some 740km northwest of Seychelles.

Some foreign warships from western counties are patrolling the area to curtail the rampant pirating but the sea bandits have moved their operations into the far Indian Ocean.
