“May God rest his soul in eternal paradise ,the journalist was trying to pack a car near Madina Hotel before he was shot in the head”, said an eyewitness adding the scene is also not far away from the broadcast main office in the capital.

The attacker escaped from the scene before the security officers had reached there. No group has so far claimed responsibility of that heartless killing.

Somali Transitional Federal Government (TFG) minister for Information Abdikadir Hussein Jahweyn sent a message of condolence to the relatives, friends and members of the late reporter’s family, describing the incident as the one that gripped his administration with deep-rooted shock.

“It is a shocking incident. We as a government it has shaken us as we sent a message of condolence to the members of the family, relatives, friends and also media fraternity”, said minister while briefing journalists in Mogadishu on the incident. He hoped that soon the security officers will succeed in their investigation to bring the criminal before justice.

“Police are carrying out investigation, I hope soon they will bring the assassin before a court of law”, said Mr Abdikadir.

Mogadishu has been a bullet –inflicted capital town in the Horn of African since 1991 when Somali central government led by former president Mahamed Siyad Barre was toppled while currently Somali Transitional Federal Government Forces (TFG) backed by peacekeeping troops from African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) are battling against the fighters loyal to the most powerful Somali insurgent group Al-shabab over the control of the capital.
