Claude Pivi alias Coplan who led the mutineers during the last uprising of the army is one the members. He also led the assault against the police head quarters in Camayenne Camp. During this attack many policemen were killed. Pivi is charged with torturing Cameroonians at Alpha Yaya Camp by burning their backs with rubber.

The former army general commissary Commandant Korka Diallo is a member of the new council too.

Until now the members of the council cannot decide who to choose as a chief because the majority of the army does not support them.

Last night roads were lonely in Conakry because there is no traffic and flights to Guinea are cancelled.

In any case this tentative of coup had been condemned by the political parties, the international institutions and the African Union.

    Lansana Conté

After the death of Guinea’s President Lansana Conté on Monday, the army has decided to remain in power by organising a plot led by a group of the army young officers.

On Tuesday early morning at 7:30. Captain Moussa David Camara, the spokesman for the National Council for Democracy, made a statement dissolving the national institutions and suspending the government, the constitution, the political parties and all the trade unions.

In the last two days a Consultative Council of Transition was created and is composed of civilians and militaries considering the ethnic balance. This consultative Council will be led by a president, specified Camara.

”The public resources embezzlement, the general corruption, the impunity as a governing method, the anarchy have plunged our country in a catastrophic economical situation, mainly dramatic for the majority of Guineans”, says Camara.

”The members of this government are in grand part responsible for this economical and social crisis. Also the national institutions are suspicious by their failure to solve the problems and implement the fundamental law. This situation confirms the State dysfunction”, Camara added.

In another communiqué they asked the Government Members and the High officers of the army to go to Camp Alpha Yaya for a matter of security.

The Assembly president Aboubacar Somparé joined on phone by France24 recognized the plot tentative. He said that the militaries are negotiating at the camp. He added that he is at home and the Prime Minister Doctor Ahmed Tidiane Souaré in his office.

Doctor Ahmed Tidiane has said that the government was not dissolved.
