The LHSF announced last week that that they will send $2 million of hospital supplies and equipment to the Bo Government hospital in Sierra Leone. The donation they say, is first of a series of humanitarian shipments to ancestral home of Hollywood Actor and humanitarian Isaiah Washington who is also a board member of LHSF.

“The Foundation identified the staggering need for supplies and equipment from one of its board members, Mr. Isaiah Washington; who himself has DNA trace ancestral ties to Sierra Leone, West Africa. The container contains approximately $2,000,000 worth of equipment; roughly 1,000 boxes which represent hope and healing for this West African country of roughly 6,000,000 people” LHSF announced in a press release.

The LHSF endeavors to build a bridge of support from the United States to the nations and people of the Continent of Africa. The container being sent to Sierra Leone is scheduled to arrive just in time for the Holidays. In addition to the hospital equipment, the Leon H. Sullivan Foundation is sending non-perishable food items and shoes for the children of Sierra Leone.

The foundation says they wish to continue this type of medical humanitarian assistance in West Africa throughout 2011.

Founded by the late Rev. Leon H. Sullivan, the Leon H. Sullivan was created to support developing countries globally.
