South Africa defender and new Tottemham Hotspurs signing Bongani Khumalo is settling in his new environment, according to his agent Glyn Binkin. The former SuperSport United captain now has to himself a car and a house near to the Spurs training ground in Chigwell, Essex.

“Bongani’s doing well so far – he has his own place now and a car, so that has made things easier for him,” Binkin toldKickOff.com.

“But Spurs have got a number of excellent players in his position, so he knows he will have to be patient. Jonathan Woodgate is back in contention and Michael Dawson and William Gallas have been playing very well, so it’s a matter of waiting for his chance and trying to adapt to the pace of the game and life in England.”

Khumalo has so far been limited to appearances for the reserve team. Khumalo played a starring role as Tottenham saw off QPR on Tuesday in Chigwell, although he could not stop a certain Benni McCarthy from scoring in the 9-2 victory.

“Bongani played alongside Woodgate in central defence and they both did very well,” Binkin added.

“QPR had five of their first-team playing in the match and of course he knew Benni very well, so it was a good test for him. There were a lot of scouts at the game watching and I think he showed he is capable of competing at that level.”
