SA award winning writer dies in Libya crash

    A South African writer Bree O'mara, who won the 2007 citizen Book Prize, was among the list of seven South African nationals who died in a plane crash in Libya which killed over 100 people.

    A Dutch boy is the only survivor of the accident and a CNN report quoted a doctor in Libya Thursday as saying that he (the boy) was in a stable condition.

    O’Mara, who is also reported to have had an Irish nationality, won the award for her book Home Affairs. The South African public vote for the award.

    The Afrigiyah Airways Flight left OR Tambo Airport in South Africa via Libya where it crashed and was en-route to London.

    Proper figures are expected to be produced of how many people died in the plane and of which nationals as investigations are still going on.
