Adverts offering free porn and penis enlargement managed to find their way on the official website of South Africa's ruling African National Congress (ANC). Spokesperson Brian Sokutu said a person they are yet to identify has posted embarrassing links to its website www.anc.org.za.

“ANC wishes to distance itself from a selection of embarrassing links placed on the organization’s website by someone who has hacked into the ANC site,” he said according to a report on Itnewsafrica.com website.

The ANC will take all the necessary steps to remove the adverts some advertising pornography - which have nothing to do with the ANC. We did not place the content and have no relation with the person that hacked into our website to embarrass the ANC.

The report said cybercrime, such as hacking is prevalent in South Africa where businesses have cried foul and urged customers to be wary of fraudulent emails aimed at conning members of the public to give away their vital personal information. “A website should not be vulnerable and the ANC will take all steps necessary to ensure this does not recur,” Sokutu said.
