SADC plots against child trafficking

    Four Southern Africa Development Countries (SADC) have come together in Lilongwe, Malawi to discuss how best to curtail child trafficking during the World Cup (WC).

    Malawi, Zambia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe are meeting through the SADC Guidance, Counselling and Youth Development Centre for Africa (GCYDCA) based in Malawi.

    Organisations present at the meeting are Plan Malawi, Plan Zambia, Plan Zimbabwe and Plan Mozambique. They have engaged officials in border districts to strategise against anticipated child trafficking.

    Second Secretary for the Zambia High Commission, Killian Lwiindi advised immigration officials for Dedza in Malawi bordering Mozambique, and Kalomwe in Mozambique to treat the problem as realistic.

    "Child trafficking is real and must be stopped," he said. Lwiindi added child trafficking takes place across the globe.
