Reporters Join HIV/AIDS Battle

    The President of the HIV/AIDS reporters Association (HARA) and Managing Editor of the New Citizen Newspaper Samuel Conteh has expressed his Organization’s desire to work in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation to meet its health care challenges.

    Minister of Health Dr. Soccoh Kabia was at his Youyi Building Office informed of HARA’s commitment to assist the Ministry in the fight against HIV/AIDS and other dreadful diseases affecting the growth and development in the country through media sensitization and education.

    The Minister described the role of the pandemic as life threatening even though the country’s prevalence rate is low. HARA, Mr. Conteh promised will promote an awareness raising campaign in the area of prevention strategies through media tours in the country.

    Health and sanitation Minister Dr. Soccoh Kabia commended the Association for what he described as a worthy move towards the fight against HIV/AIDs and the promotion of health care services in the county.

    He briefed the newly constituted Executive about his vision to improve the standards of health care delivery services in the hospitals and other health facilities and his commitment to address the brain-drain in the medical profession.

    Dr. Kabia also told the journalists about the Ministry’s newly launched Reproductive and Child Health Programme which he said aims at reducing the high incidence of maternal and child mortality in the country, adding that his doors are always open for dialogue that would help move the Ministry forward.
