RB TO ATTEND 2010 WC IN SOUTH AFRICA


  1. Zambian president Rupiah Banda says he is geared to attend the 2010 FIFA world cup due to be hosted by South Africa this July.
    The 2010 world cup kicks off in three weeks time with the host nation South Africa’s Bafana bafana taking on Mexico in the opening encounter on June 11 2010.
    And The Zambian head of state who is an ardent supporter of football in Zambia and the continent as a whole has confirmed receipt of an invitation to attend the official opening of the prestigious soccer tournament being hosted in Africa for the first time.
    Banda has been invited by his South African counterpart Jacob Zuma.
    Several heads of state and governments have confirmed their attendance at the 2010 world cup being hosted in Africa for the first time among them is United States president Barak Obama.
    Another veteran icon expected to grace the world cup is former South African president nelson Mandela whose life has been celebrated across the world for his tremendous role in the fight against apartheid and his role in lobbying for South Africa’s hosting of the world cup.
    And a visiting delegation from an association known as Spirit of Football Project is in Zambia in a quest to advocate for the promotion of unity through football.

    The Spirit of Football organizers are a group that is collecting signatures on a soccer football from prominent soccer fans and have since collected more than one hundred and thirteen signatures in twenty seven countries.

    The Spirit of Football led by its representative Andrew Aris paid a courtesy call on the Zambian President rupiah Banda at state house whom they also presented a leather football to the President.
