I am innovate person born in 1982 and currently working as a Director with Kibera Community Youth Programme in Kenya, which I helped found in 2002.
I have studied business administration in college and courses related to youth development; the field that I am currently practicing. I spare my time to write about disability issues given my physical challenge and development issues in general. Writing is my hobby through which my ideas are felt with many. In future, I would like to write a book about youth development with a specific focus on Kibera and also write about challenges facing young persons with disabilities around the world.
Kibera Community Youth Programme (KCYP) is a community based youth initiative founded in 2002 by and for young people living in the urban slums of Kibera, one of the largest slums in Sub-Saharan Africa with an approximate population of one million people. The organization is a self-help initiative addressing youth problems through multisectoral approaches with an aim of empowering the disadvantaged youth to have a stake in the future. KCYP is involved in provision of life skills, entrepreneurship skills, and community service activities, income projects e.g. assembling of small solar panels, beadwork making, acting and community visit tours. These are undertaken through four core programs; youth development and empowerment, reproductive health & HIV/AIDS, Arts for Development & Social Change and Environment & Sanitation program. More about KCYP and its program can be read at www.kcyp.net
In this blog, I will be sharing with you more about our work with specifics, news from Kibera slums and around Kenya in general, answer any questions that you might have for me. I look forward to have a gainful interaction with all of you.
