MDC spokesperson Nelson Chamisda said it was not yet clear what the police were looking for and said that the whereabouts of the arrested refugees were still unknown.

"They arrested more than 100 refugees most of whom have broken limbs, ribs and are in serious pain. Their whereabouts are yet unknown," said Chamisa.

The raid of MDC offices is another page in the clampdown of the opposition and dissenting voices.

Meanwhile, police also raided the Zimbabwe Election Support Network (ZESN) offices looking for its director Rindai Chipfunde-Vava. the ZESN raid is an attempt to pry into the affairs of the independent election support body for the election research in which the election body predicted that MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai had defeated Mugabe in the presidential election.

ZESN chairperson Noel Kututwa said the police were looking for Chipfunde-Vava and himself and for subversive material.

"The police are looking for Chipfunde-Vava and myself, Kututwa, and for subversive material," Kututwa.
