PRIME MINISTER RAILA ODINGA REGISTERS AS A VOTER IN KIBRA

  1. With 21 days left in the continuing voter registration, Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his wife Ida Odinga registered as voters at Makina ward in Kibra constituency yesterday. He was accompanied by the Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (IEBC) chairman Isaac Hassan.
Odinga urged the youth and women to register in large numbers so that they can vote in the upcoming elections. He also said that Kenyans should not go the polls on 4 March 2013 with doubts about the IEBC’s ability to conduct a free and fair election. “I believe that you will vote in full large number this time round but you must register as a voter in this fresh voting registration in order to elect your leader in the upcoming general election,” he said. He also spoke about insecurity issue in Kenya, saying that many Kenyans have lost their loved ones. He called upon those responsible for security to do their job.
Though this was not a campaign rally,he played his role as politician, saying that he believes that he will win on 4 March 2013. Kenyans should remember, he said, that bad leaders are elected by good citizens who do not vote. IEBC chairman Isaac Hassan urged Kenyans to register in large number as voters. The current registration drive ends on 18th of December. Old voting cards will not work. He also ask the PM to liaise with the Minister of Immigration to fast track the issuance of national Identity cards and enable more Kenyans register to vote.
