Opposition plans to organize a protest march on September 27

  1. The opposition parties for the finalization of the transition held a meeting in order to take a common decision for the parliamentary elections. Cellou Dalein Diallo (UFDG), Sidiya Touré (UFR), Mouctar Diallo (NFD), Fodé Mahmoud Soumah (GECI) and Faya Millimono (N GR) analyzed the declaration of the CENI (Independent Electoral Commission) president lounseny Camara who decided to organize election on December 2011. After the meeting they asked their militants to organize a pacific demonstration on Tuesday 27th September 2011 to protest against the unilateral decision of the CENI to fixe the date of the elections without the approval of the opposition.
The Independent Electoral Commission said that they are ready to organize the elections. Kits offered by South Africans are available and emissaries of the CENI are in the whole country to make everything in order. According to Lounseny Camara about 4,000 operators are following a training which will be completed by a hundred of supervisors.
As for Alhasane Condé, the Minister of the Territory Administration a part of the memorandum addressed to him had examined by the government. "The CENI is and independent institution. It is not the role of the government to restructure the CENI. It is the duty of the CNT (National Council of Transition). The government is not against the restructuration”, says Alhassane Condé.
As far as is Lounseny Camara is concerned, the CENI is sovereign that is why they decided to organize elections on December 29th.
The parties (UPG, UFC, and PEDN) of the Alliance for Democracy and Development are not against the organization of the elections on that date. But the Collective Parties for the Finalization of the Transition are opposed to that date because the CENI is working alone without any transparency. The CENI had replaced SAGEM by a South Company in order to cheat during parliamentary elections because it the same company which helped Alpha Condé to cheat presidential elections.
"Electoral and identity cards will not be available on December 29th", said Sidiya Touré leader of UFR.
"Alpha Condé confound managing and making trouble", added Faya Milimono of NGR.
"The government will be responsible of any violence of the security forces on opposition militants", declared Mouctar Diallo leader of NFD.
"We deplore the stubbornness of the government and CENI to organize election without the approval of opposition parties, stated Cellou Dalein Diallo UFDG leader".
Analysts fear a blood bath the day of the demonstration because security for security forces are used to bloody repression during pacific demonstrations.
