- Games and plays are amusement that has entertained, brought light moments, inspired and mobilized people since time immemorial. It has been so to all peoples of the world and so to the people in the land of Njwanga. Here the origin of varieties of games and plays is not clearly known. Some should be original to this rich land of Bukoba in Kagera but others could have been imported, brought in by immigrants, traders, colonialists, religious sects and the like. The kind of amusement seen in this society help to appreciate this deep rooted culture and the value of simplicity. - Traditional conservation of wildlife in Njwanga’s Dynasty of Kamachumu, Bukoba had a lot to do with the concept of RESPECT. This Respect was manifested in various forms. One was respect to totems (Omuziro, Omushambwa). The many clans in the area of Njwanga, not less than 50 clans, each had a totem an animal an insect, an organ in an animal’s body etc. The clan respected, adored and related to these as blood relatives and some still do up to now. Secondly respect was for the Kings of whom there were 8 Kingdoms in the land of Njwanga. The kings had administrative, judicial, legislative and spiritual authority only second to God. - Traditional hunting skills have a long history and are still surrounded by myths. In the dynasty of Njwanga of Kamachumu Bukoba there is “Irungu” the spirit God and ruler who has control on hunters. He rules the open lands and the forests. He, like other Gods such as “Mugasha” the one legged spirit who rules over the waters of the great Lake Victoria, belong to legends that have been handed over from one generation to the next by people of this land. - The drum (Engoma) like in many African tribes forms a major part of the sacred traditions. The sounds of drum, music and dance is rivaled by almost nothing in popularity, it never stops being in vogue, it is the greatest crowd puller! During the time of Njwanga when kings ruled Buhaya in their highly respected Kingdoms, the King was referred to as the Drum (Habuka Engoma) (Obuso bwe Ngoma) were the highest greeting to the King. The throne is also referred to as Engoma - the Drum. When the King wanted to call audience of his people a large drum well known to every body was sounded. - It is at a traditional marriage ceremony. All villagers and well wishers have gathered at the bride groom's father to celebrate and make merry. The program of rituals that stared at least three months ago is still rolling out. At this point in time the young bride groom has been given all the gifts due to him including a spear to protect his family. He is now an adult member of the clan and his whole extended family has taken part in one way or another in his upbringing.
