Nitel bid deadline extended to Oct. 26

    The deadline for potential investors to bid for the Nigerian Telecommunications Ltd (NITEL) has been extended to 26th October. Bidders were due to submit technical and financial bids today but now have two more weeks to do so.

    [htm]Bids for NITEL and its mobile unit MTel, will be opened on November 6 while the winner will be announced on November 9, This Day newspapers reported.

    In September, Nigeria’s Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) received Expressions of Interest (EOIs) applications from MTN and Etisalat Nigeria for at least 75 per cent equity in Nigeria’s NITEL.

    Other companies that have made their intentions known, include Globacom, Omen International Limited (BVI), Summit Group, MTI Consortium, Finetek.Com, Ericsson Consortium and MTNL Limited, India. Others are Anas Network Services Limited, Telefonica Consort-ium, Metro PCS Communications Inc, Brymedia (W.A) Limited and Galaxy Backbone Plc.
