The Nigerian government has signed a $16 billion deal with Dubai's World Corporation to embark on a massive infrastructural development in the Niger delta and other areas. A Memorandum of Understanding was reached recently and signed by the Nigerian Minister of Justice, Michael Kaase Aondokaa.

Aondokaa said the focal area has been identified as massive expansion and construction of structures in the Niger delta and some pressing locations to meet international environmental standards.
He said other areas are the Abuja mega city project, trans-modern rail, Ports expansion and automation, building of critical infrastructural structures among other targeted infrastructural development projects that is set to make Nigeria a global tourist destination of sort.
Representatives of the Dubai World Corporation expressed optimism that the Nigeria market is good for the projects. “The human capital is favorable and we feel very comfortable to deal with Nigeria in building its infrastructure,” the delegation told the press.
Nigeria’s President Yar’Adua who received the team from Dubai said the project is
in line with his administration’s vision to place Nigeria among world top 20
economies by 2020.
