Nigeria: NASSI to create 10m jobs

    Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists has concluded arrangements to begin the implementation of six-phase NASSI Empowerment Project tagged: "Project NASSI" to create 10 million green jobs yearly and alleviate poverty in the country. The project coordinator, Ike Onyechere, said.

    According to Onyechere, the programme is aimed at empowering its members and other stakeholders with information on industrial development initiative, government policies, programmes, incentives and strategies as well as builds their capacity for basic entrepreneurial management.

    The project which would kick off with a national stakeholders’ summit on Sustainable Industrial Development, is aimed at preparing the Nigeria’s small scale industrialists for Vision 2020 initiative of the Federal Government and to make Nigeria an industrial powerhouse.

    Onyechere, who described small scale industries as the driving force for development in any nation, added that the summit would provide the small scale industrialists with information on funding mechanisms, markets, machinery and raw materials that would enhance their productivity and project the country to meaningful development, according to businessdaily.

    The coordinator observed that one of the problems being faced by small scale industrialists in the country was power, hence the need for the agency to partner NASSI.
