Nigeria: Local pc firm spreads wings

    Nigeria's indigenous computer manufacturing firm, Omatek, has signed pact to form other channel for sales of its products in other African countries and francophone countries.

    The Chief Operating Officer of Omatek, Mrs. Florence Seriki said the just concluded International Telecommunication Union conference was a good platform that projected Omatek’s activities. Seriki noted that ITU organizers took special interest in the company’s Hardtops PC, which is the smallest in the world. Other product that attracted interest is the Omatek home entertainment products and Omatek power product.

    Making a case for support of locally made IT products, Seriki stated technology would create an enabling environment for growth and development in any society. She said: “The awareness of locally made products globally would affect the development of information, Communication Technology in the whole of Africa”

    Seriki added: “One way to receive attention from foreign investors is to develop the local contents properly”.

    Omatek computer is one of the grounds breaking indigenous computer companies in Africa, with pioneering efforts in ICT development and innovative products.
