The Federal Government of Nigeria has pledged to release Naira 171 million (USD$1,163,225) into the construction of the information and communications technology park in Kano State, the State's commissioner for environment, Alhaji Garba Yusuf Abubakar, has revealed.
“The state executive council has approved the release of N171.4 million for the takeoff of the ICT Park. By this development, Kano State is set to become the ICT nucleus of the country,” he said according to a news report on itnewsafrica.com.
According to the report the objectives of the Kano ICT Park are to generate revenue for the state, create employment opportunities in the state, attract foreign investment in ICT sector, and to develop highly-skilled ICT manpower in the state.
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is to establish a software testing centre, a software development centre, ICT training centre as well as a zonal office of NITDA in the Kano ICT park.
