Nigeria: FA Protests FIFA on Media Accreditation

    The Authority of the Nigeria Football Association has protested against Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) over the scantiness of allocation of media accreditation to Nigeria for the coverage of 2010 World Cup.

    The world football governing body has allocated 20 media accreditation to Nigeria FA which comprises of 15 for the written press and five for photographers.

    FIFA’s flagship tournament is coming to the African continent for the first time and the NFF expected that the situation, coupled with the globally –acknowledged vibrancy of the Nigeria written press, would ginger FIFA to allocate enough media accreditation to the country.

    On the website of the NFF it say “We wish to state that this number is grossly inadequate for Nigeria’s vibrant written press and legion of football photographers, with scores of daily newspapers, weekly newspapers, daily sports papers, weekly sports papers, magazines and websites.”

    According to the Deputy Secretary of the NFF in charge of General Services Barrister Musa Amadu “We plead that you use your good office to increase the allocation to Nigeria as our journalists are expectantly waiting to get accreditation for this hugely important football extravaganza”.

    The World Cup for the first time will be hosted by the continent of Africa and huge expectations are expected from the world fiesta which will bring crem della crem of stars, statesmen and supporters alike under one stage.
